ATTACHED STAFF
District Nurses
Their duties are similar to those of the practice nurse but mainly involve visiting
patients in their homes and the care of the sick in the community. They are based
at Beckenham Beacon where they can be contacted on 01689 866712. Messages are
also collected daily from the practice.
Health Visitors
They are involved in the care of pre-school children and routine support of the
family. They are also based at Beckenham Beacon (01689 86626). Baby clinics are held at the
surgery on Tuesday afternoons from 2.00 to 4.00pm except during the month of August.
Community Midwife
The midwife covers all aspects of maternity care until the baby is at least 10 days old. The community midwife holds her clinics at the Beckenham Beacon. The midwives are based at the Princess Royal University Hospital.
Counsellors
Counselling is available within the practice for patients. This needs to be discussed
with a doctor, who will make a referral if they feel it is appropriate.
Student Teaching
Junior doctors on training programmes at the Princes Royal University Hospital, have four month placements in the practice, to gain experience in General Practice. Medical students from Guy's King's and St Thomas' School of medicine are attached to the practice for teaching with Dr Tempest. This is an essential part of the training of future doctors. You
will be notified when making your appointment if students may be present, so
that you may choose an alternative time if you wish.
